When I was a child these were great to wake up to.
We use to see what animal we would get... ! They cook up super fast..and dont take much to make them. I have cut the recipe so that it would not be too much because the original recipe feeds 22 people. (there was always someone looking for more so I think for my big family growning up it feed 10. haha!)
They are deep fried though...oh you are over that...good lets get started...
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup Milk
1 egg
2 table spoons melted butter
1 1/2 cups sifted flour *we use bread flour because that is what my family used when I was a kid... my aunt used all purpose...either is fine.* that being said...I like bread flour.
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
*You could add a maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon to this dough if you like..I never do, because it can be added to the outside of the finished donut.*
mix the first 4 together in one bowl. mix the rest together in a different bowl.
add the wet to the dry...
mix till all is wet and no big lumps.
heat oil to about 360-365.
using 2 spoons.. make tiny lumps of dough into oil..be careful this is heavy dough, make them small... think donut holes..or smaller.
IF they cook to fast turn down the heat.
when they are done you can do this...
powdered sugar+ one of these topings:
cinnamon
cocoa
nuts that have been pounded to a powder..
really any toping you like.. take a brown paper bag...add sugar, topping and donuts...shake. tada....!
I prefer powder sugar, but you can use regular sugar too..
They are good by themselves too...
or with coffee even better.
(this is not a cake donut, but I think it is even better!)
Happy October to all of you!!
I hope you enjoy a little bite of my childhood.... to me this tastes like Autumn!
Dank meiner Lieben!!!!

A close up of a test of my sanity!
A close up of a test of my sanity!
Here is a close up of the evil sweater that you would never believe was soooo bad to me because of its' softness
the test of my sanity.
the test of my sanity.
This is a sweater that I poored my heart and energy into for almost a month... it is oh so very soft... and the stitches sooo small.... my eyes are now that of a 80 year old but I finished it! hahaha!
a jean skirt for Leah
a jean skirt for Leah
This is a simple skirt from the legs of a pair of jeans... opened up and then sewn together,.. we added fake fur around it. Leah had been coveting a skirt just like this that was for and amazing $89. it had no pockets and an elastic band. I think this has changed her mind on money and how we look at things...I told her we could make it..... she doubted me... but we went to the store...seen the skirt and went home and made it out of a pair of jeans not one could wear. She went to school and was ooh and aahed over and asked how much it had been...since we had the old jeans that had a whole in them... and the fake fur thread and elastic it was basicly free.
She even went to the store that the skirt was at with her "new skirt on..."
and they thought it was one of theirs...
until I showed the sales girl the inside hem.... she grined and said great copy...I think I will do the same!
hahhaha!
Winter gloves...
Winter gloves...
This is the chocolate pair, and is the
10th pair I have made in varing colors.
I guess my fingers at least know that winter is closer than we think.
Yes I took the little purple polaroid apart again and did a little tricking...adding a new wire and a new bulb.. and changing out a lense from believe it or not a magnifying glass!
It was a weak magnifying glass but fit perfect... there was a lense inside the camera that was broken... thus missing this lense the photos were all blury or dull...fuzzy, so I added the magnifying glass from a toy and it works great...mind you that I have little need of zooming now! haha!
The wire came from a old remote we dont use any more. And the bulb out of a toy that was broken...but believe it or not the bulb fit...yeah I have a flash again too!!!
Necessity is the mother of invention they say... I guess it is true. I have a new found confidence that does me good as a mother.

Little purple Polaroid
My camera has been broken all summer...victimised by children....
Sorry little camera...
I have been working on this camera almost all summer.... at night a little bit at a time...until my eyes could take it no more.... I have it working..well sort of.
I am giving a tribute to it here as thanks for all the photos it has given me, maybe, just maybe it was jealous?? So here's to you purple polaroid....and a mother's determination, and persistence.
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. "
Calvin Coolidge
Live long little purple polaroid...live long, I believe in you.

What is your childrens' lovie?
These are the lovies that my kids cant
live or sleep with out, I even included
my oldest's lovie even though he no
longer uses it, it is still special.
so here is a tag to all moms....
What does your childrens' favorite lovie
look like? I tag you all!......
what comforts your lovely children? If you are a
mom though you can join in~ consider yourself tagged.
All you do is photo your children's love toy, the toy that they can't go without... it is part of the family..... it is our life saver when our "babies" are sick and loves our children when we are busy or away. They also listen to all of our children's secrets, they may know
more about your babies than you do. When you have to be harsh they are the back up hugger. So here is a shout out to the helper in the house, what is your children's favorite toy or blanky..etc. Snap a photo ot two,
and pass the tag to some other mothers that wanna thank this little family helper.
(this is an old post from flickr...
I thought I would repost this here...
still without a camera... but a lovie
made my weekend much easier...
the youngest was sick and she
was not easy to comfort till we found
her hedgehog... then she slept
very soundly... so here is too all lovies... !
A great big THANK YOU! Sometimes we
just need to hug someone soft.)
Loads of love,
Rane
P.s. dont forget to come back here and link us at the comments
so we can see.... If you have a website even better then I can
post you in my lovely places to go!! Over to the right .....----->
